  • 22” wide, 15” high, 7.5” deep. Fits in the overhead compartment of most airlines.
  • Made from a hand-selected textile (learn more below). Soft leather trim, lined in cotton canvas. Includes a detachable, adjustable shoulder strap.
  • Handmade in Turkey in a small, family-owned workshop.

Sumak (also spelled Soumak, Soumakh, Sumac, and Soumac) kilims are crafted from a mixture of wool and silk, and have a stronger weave and a more textural hand than other types of kilim carpets. They are known for their intricate designs that incorporate finely detailed symbols, figures, and representations of animals. The crisp and boldly contrasting blues, reds, and whites often featured in Sumak kilims make them a favorite among our community.

Each of our Sumak Kilim pieces is handmade from one-of-a-kind Turkish carpets, which means that no two will ever be alike. We photograph each item individually, so what you see on the product page is exactly what you'll receive.

Our products are completely handmade from start to finish by master artisans and weavers, resulting in the highest quality finished product.

Our Weekender includes an attachable and adjustable canvas strap, so that you can throw it on your back when you are running to catch a flight.

In addition to ample interior space, our Weekender includes a large zippered inner pocket, for items that require some separation.

Since our products are made from vintage textiles, each pair we make is completely unique! Even two pairs cut from the same carpet can look very different depending on placement of the pattern, borders vs. interior, etc.

The carpets themselves are vintage, generally with some sort of damage that makes them no longer suitable for use in a home. We repurpose the intact parts as shoes and accessories.

Yes! We photograph each one-of-a-kind product individually, so the two main images at the very top of the page are exactly what you'll receive. Any additional images and videos are other examples of the same style, just to show you what it looks like in action.

"This bag is made from an actual carpet, and is the actual product that was pictured on the webpage (I thought I would be getting something similar, but no, Artemis photographs every single product individually which must be so time consuming!!). I love this bag so much for all of the compliments I get on it. It's just so fun to wear. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because it is a bit on the heavier side, so I wouldn't necessarily gift it to my grandmother. Photos attached show the high quality leather and carpet in more detail. Also, there is an extra long strap that comes with it, which wasn't super clear to me in the product description."
